What is Jones Middle School?
While taking the SATs, some students are left with questions about preparing for high school when they don’t have a middle school. To tackle these kinds of concerns, Jones Middle School launched in 2012 as a virtual K-8 school. Through video content, students will learn fundamental life skills and academic material that covers core subjects like math and science.

History of Jones Middle School
Jones Middle School was founded in 1965 as part of the Huntsville City School District. The school has served students in grades 6-8 from the Rocket City for over 50 years. Jones is a nationally-recognized Blue Ribbon School and has been honored with the Alabama State Department of Education’s “School of Excellence” Award for 12 years in a row. In the Fall of 2021, students will move to new facilities built across the street from the school.

Athletics at Jones Middle School
Jones Middle School is home to a variety of athletic teams. Students can participate in basketball, football, soccer, and track. Their practices will occur Monday–Thursday at 7:00 p.m. No outside activities are allowed during these times. You must wear athletic footwear and wear a helmet when playing in games. All students must have their immunization records on file with the school nurse. Medical clearance must be provided by a physician or a physician’s assistant to participate in athletics.
