On May 31, 2019, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) released a National Education Policy (NEP) draft. This is the first update to India’s education coverage in almost 30 years, and the recommendations have been debated. It became open to the general public for comments and pointers till July 31.

What is your initial reaction to the draft NEP? If carried out, how do you see the effect of the coverage on our schooling machine? The draft NEP changed for a long time, but it has made a few bold and welcome guidelines to shift the focus of the training device closer to great and enhance pupil studying outcomes. It takes a protracted period of view regarding the emphasis on flexibility and abilties to ensure our children are equipped for a hastily changing job situation.

When I studied it, I immediately thought we had a coverage document. However, it’s a draft that explicitly recognizes that we’re currently gaining knowledge of the crisis and that this disaster started in the early years. This is significant. If we had been focusing on getting this component right, i.e., ensuring all kids have foundational literacy and numeracy competencies.
